About Meteor Dodge
Meteor Dodge is a pure survival arcade game: your ship, a rain of rocks, and no gun. It belongs to the 'dodger' family that stretches from 1980s bullet-hell shooters to minimalist mobile hits, games that delete every mechanic except the one that matters, not getting hit, and then turn the dial up forever.
Removing the ability to shoot changes the psychology completely. In a shooter, danger is something you clear; in a dodger, danger only accumulates, and your score is literally the time you stay calm inside it. The meteor field thickens and accelerates the longer you last, so every run ends the same way, what varies is how gracefully.
Meteor Dodge survival habits
- Make small corrections. Big swerves trade a known threat for an unknown one on the far side of the screen.
- Watch spawn points at the top, trajectories are readable from the moment a meteor enters, and early reads beat fast hands.
- Stay off the walls. Corners cut your escape directions in half exactly when you need them most.
- Move through gaps behind meteors, not in front of them; space that just emptied stays safe longest.
- Breathe at speed-ups. Panic input is the killer, the field is usually more survivable than it looks.
FAQ
Is there any way to destroy the meteors?
No, and that is the point. Meteor Dodge is a pure evasion game: no weapons, no shields, no power-ups to lean on. Your only resources are screen position and patience, which is what makes long runs feel so earned.
Where is the safest place on the screen?
Nowhere permanently, but the lower middle is the best default: maximum reaction time against meteors falling from above and escape routes in both directions. The edges and corners are statistically where runs go to die.
How does the difficulty scale?
Meteor density and speed rise gradually with survival time, with no cap. The game never becomes unfair in one step; it just keeps asking for slightly cleaner movement until a run ends. Every extra second late-game is worth many early ones.
What controls does it use?
Arrow keys or WASD on desktop, touch-drag on mobile. Your ship follows exactly and instantly, there is no momentum, so every collision is honest and every dodge is fully yours.
